It is hard to know when is the right time to retire



. The standard is when you turn 65 it is time to retire and enjoy the good life. If you have planned well and invested your money then you can live the way you want after you decide to retire. The truth is it takes a lot of preparation to get to the Golden Years. Investing in your future is never more true than when the time comes when you do not want to work any longer.

There are many people who did not plan well and do not have enough money to retire. With the high cost of medical care and insurance it is not so easy living on just social security. You really need more income to be able to pay your bills and have a little fun. Some people decide to retire early and at 62 you can get social security income but it will be less than when you turn 65. You want to check and see what the amount you will receive before deciding to stop working.

Another big factor comes into play when deciding when is the right time to retire. What are you going to do after you retire? It is most important to ask this question so that you do not get bored or regret retiring in the first place. Have a plan so that when you get close or you are at that age you know what you want to do. Most people who have no clue end up working longer because they can't imagine sitting home all day.

The decision is ultimately up to you and you want to make the decision on when to retire a good one. If you have been planing to retire for years then it will be easier for you to do it financially and mentally. If you have been working and really not thinking much about it then the decision can be a whole lot harder than you might think.

You need to sit down and write down what you want to do after you don't work anymore. The dream for a lot o people is to move near the ocean or start a winery. The truth is not a lot of people end up with that kind of money. To live expensively you are going to need a big nest egg and you better have started early. Be realistic about what you want to do and what you enjoy doing.

Remember that retiring and when to do it is not just an age factor. You need to have some type of plan. If you like to work then there is no reason that you can't keep doing what you like. Maybe you can reduce your hours and still be around people so you can enjoy your retirement.
